Speakers’ biographies

Professor Lani Florian

Professor Lani Florian is Bell Chair of Education Emerita at the University of Edinburgh. She is best known for her research on inclusive pedagogy and teacher education for inclusive education. She has worked extensively with colleagues to ensure the results of her research are being applied in schools and integrated into first and higher degrees in universities around the world.

Ekaterina Efimenko

Ekaterina Efimenko is Coordinator for Democracy, Equality and Environment at European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE). She has a teaching master’s degree in literature and linguistics, as well as a master’s in human rights. Ekaterina has an extensive experience working with the topics of inclusive education and the teaching profession, democracy and citizenship education, human rights and environmental sustainability, representing the perspective of education trade unions in Europe. She co-ordinates the work of the ETUCE Standing Committee for Equality, Equality Expert Group and Status of Women Committee. She also co-ordinates European-funded projects on inclusion, democratic citizenship and environmental sustainability in education and the teaching profession, including joint projects between education employers and education trade unions at the European level.
