Pursuant to current legislation, the Ministry lays down national curriculum regulations for individual courses. This includes teacher education in Norway. 

A?booklet on teacher training in Norway?contains information about the regulations for general teacher education, pre-primary teacher education and practical and didactic education, respectively. 

Since 2017, teacher education has been a five-year master’s degree programme (Source:?CPRA – Norway Country Report, p. 45)

National authorities offer continuing education for teachers and professionals in expert organisations. For kindergarten teachers, there is a programme which focuses on including children with minority languages in mainstream settings (Source:?IECE – Norway Country Survey Questionnaire, p. 9).
