European Education Area Working Groups

The mandate of the European Education Area working groups concluded in December 2025, bringing to a close a four-year cycle of collaboration across European Union (EU) education and training systems.

The working groups have played a key role in strengthening voluntary co-operation across EU member states. Bringing together European stakeholders, including EASNIE representatives, the groups have provided a platform for sharing national experiences, policy reforms and effective practices to address common challenges while respecting national diversity and contexts.

Through reports, peer-learning activities and policy guidance, the working groups have advanced inclusive, holistic and lifelong learning approaches. They have also contributed to strengthening links between education policy priorities and funding frameworks across Europe.

Over the past four years, EASNIE has participated in three working groups:

  • Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Schools (sub-group on Pathways to School Success)
  • Equality and Values in Education and Training.

The European Commission will now determine the themes for a new set of working groups, which is expected to begin in the second half of 2026. EASNIE looks forward to continuing its engagement in the next cycle of collaboration.
